STONE BY STONE JEWELRY CARE

All Stone by Stone jewelry is made with natural stones, pearls, 925 sterling silver, 925 sterling silver with rhodium plating, 925 sterling silver plated with 18k gold, and stainless steel.

What are the care instructions for jewelry made with natural stones?

- Jewelry made with natural stones requires delicate care, as many stones are porous or sensitive. Avoid contact with chemicals (creams, perfumes, sunscreen, chlorine), in swimming pools or the sea. Constant direct light on natural stones can cause them to lose color (the color fades), for this reason we advise that jewelry with natural stones be stored individually in a dry place away from light.

- Natural stones can chip or break with small impacts, for this reason more rigorous care is necessary.

What are the care instructions for pearl jewelry?

- Cultured freshwater pearls are fragile; contact with chemicals, sweat, and scratches can cause them to lose their luster. Therefore, certain precautions must be taken.

- Wear pearl jewelry only after applying perfumes or creams and ensuring they are dry on the skin. Store jewelry individually to avoid scratches. Do not wear pearl jewelry in the pool, sea, or shower (chlorine and alcohol damage pearls).

- Annual maintenance is required for pearl jewelry. We advise visiting one of our stores so we can assess the condition of the string (it may need to be replaced to prevent breakage).

- Store clean jewelry individually in a dry, dark place.

What are the care instructions for 925 sterling silver jewelry with rhodium plating?

- Rhodium plating gives silver more shine and protects it from oxidation. With proper care, this plating can last between 6 months and 2 years, depending on use and maintenance. - To keep your 925 sterling silver with rhodium plating shining for longer, avoid contact with chemicals (perfumes, creams, hairspray, or makeup), salt water, swimming pools, or showering, as these can corrode, oxidize, and wear down the rhodium plating (even the acidic pH of the skin can oxidize silver).

- Store jewelry separately in a dry, dark place.

- We advise removing rings when washing your hands to preserve the rhodium plating.

What are the care instructions for 925 sterling silver jewelry with 18k gold plating?

- The 18k gold plating applied to 925 sterling silver jewelry is on the surface; therefore, it wears off with natural use and over time.

- To ensure your gold plating lasts longer, we recommend removing your jewelry before showering, swimming (in the sea or pool), or exercising, as chlorine, salt, and sweat accelerate the wear of the gold plating. Always put on your jewelry after applying creams, perfumes, sprays, or makeup, and after these products have completely dried on your skin.

- Store clean jewelry individually in a dry, dark place.

What are the care instructions for stainless steel jewelry?

- Stainless steel jewelry is durable, hypoallergenic, and resistant to oxidation. To maintain its shine, avoid direct contact with chemicals (for example: chlorine, perfumes, creams, household cleaning products, or even chlorine), and remove it when exercising.

- Although stainless steel jewelry is resistant, we recommend removing it when going to the pool or the sea, as chlorine and salt wear down the plating.

- If stainless steel jewelry has cubic zirconia, pearls, stones, or plating of other colors (for example, gold), extra care must be taken because chemicals can dislodge stones, pearls, or cubic zirconia and change the color of the jewelry.

- If the stainless steel jewelry has a gold plating, although it is resistant, with improper use and lack of care the plating will lose its shine (color).

- Store clean jewelry individually in a dry place.
